111年度高等教育深耕計畫-執行成果
一、落實教學創新及提升教學品質
編撰創新多元教案成果豐碩:鄭博真教師編撰多本寓教於樂的老幼共學繪本如《再見啦!南安小熊妹仔》、《回家吧!小虎鯨安安》、《阿嬤的菜頭粿》、《燕巢芭樂的傳說》等,並贈書到偏鄉小學和幼兒園,帶動學童的閱讀興趣,其中《回家吧!小虎鯨安安》、《我的媽媽是公車司機》更入選2022年墨西哥瓜達拉哈拉書展台灣館展書。
推動課業學習輔導:藉由期中考過後教師的補救教學開課,能協助學習準備度不足或學習適應困難的學生額外的課業輔導。因應疫情利用Google meet進行線上遠距補救教學,使學生學習不中斷,接受補教教學後學期成績及格比率至111年達到88%,學期成績有顯著的進步。
推動學生專業實作能力檢定:校級制訂「學生專業實作能力檢核實施辦法」推動執行,系級依據專業考量與產業需求修訂「學生專業實作能力檢核實施規定」,藉教學研討會檢討學生專業實作能力檢定結果。110年度通過率高達93%。
強化學生專業(職場)外語能力:111年度三個學院各辦理1場國際研討會,民生學院舉辦「2022智慧應用與永續民生國際研討會」,共1位國際講者、3位國內講者、70位師生參與;醫事學院舉辦「2022國際精準醫學就暨學術研討會」,共2位國際講者、6位國內講者、540位師生參與;護理學院舉辦「2022智慧健康照護之應用趨勢國際研討會」,共2位國際講者、1位國內講者、124位師生參與。
此外,於111學年度第1學期開設護理系全英文EMI模組課程「Leadership and Management in Nursing Clinical Studies」,並完成培訓3位EMI種子教師。
深化業師協同實作教學:透過業師進行協同教學,建立師徒制的學習,擔任指導角色,進而提升學生學習興趣及實務操作能力,未來有機會至業師公司就業。108-110學年度共開課60門業師協同教學課程,透過師徒制提升學生學習興趣及實務操作能力,學生滿意度為4.7分,產出共編教材156件及促成學生至業師公司實習人數1,091人。
二、發展學校特色
建置類產線訓練基地,提升實務能力:如111年I-CARE智慧照顧與銀髪產業創生中心、勞動生理實驗室、安全衛生情境體驗館、視光系隱形眼鏡實驗室、資訊素養與程式設計能力培訓基地等,提供師生智慧科技應用實習,促進社區永續創生,強化與在地產業接軌技能。
辦理國際交流活動:辦理國際交流講座、研習、外語課程、技藝競賽及文化交流活動,提升學生國際視野。深化課程與國際接軌,提供外籍生華語課程,協助其順利求學融入臺灣生活環境。
辦理證照輔導班,提升國考考照率:本校每年至少開設15班乙級以上或國考證照輔導班,推動學生考照,110年四技生取得專業證照之比例為30%(938張/3,037人)。教師亦撰寫國考試題解析教材至雲端題庫平台供學生練習,促使各系國考通過率歷年穩固成長。
三、提升高教公共性
完善就學協助機制:106-111年完善就學募款金額累計達一千兩百萬元,經濟不利學生共有80%以上(逾6千位)獲得協助。
獎勵經濟不利學生,提升學生學習成效:經校務研究分析顯示:1.接受課輔之平均成績高於未獎助者,顯示課業輔導確能提升學習成效;2.受補助學生之休退率相較於未受補助者,相差約5倍,顯示輔導資源之投入可有效降低學生休退率。3.經濟不利學生考取甲級專業證照率,其中接受補助而考取證照之學生比例,發現自107年16%上升111年至50%,顯示各系科開設強化證照輔導策略成效頗佳。
新聘專業師資提升教學能量:111年度持續新聘17位具備專業實務經驗之業界師資投入教學現場,專業及技術教師比率至111年度為止已提升至7.5%,逐步厚植師資教研能量。
提升專任教師比例強化師資結構:本校兼任教師數佔全校教師數比例,至111年學年度上學期為止,已逐漸下降至48%,專任教師數佔全校教師數比例,至111學年度上學期為止,成長至52%(含實習指導教師)。另本校教授專業和技術科目教師具半年以上實務經驗佔比,至111學年度上學期成長至100%。
落實校務研究與發展:透過補助教師進行校務研究以回饋改善校務問題,聚焦校務發展計畫發展方向、教學事務、學生事務及輔導、人事、招生及社會服務等面向進行研究,協助未來校務發展政策擬訂規劃更有客觀的依據,以達學校永續營運成長的目標。107-111年度共計辦理5場校務研究成果發表會。補助114位老師進行校務議題研究。產出83件校務議題報告,並提出問題改善,108年度起,至111年度經校務發展會議通過而採納作為校務發展之議題建議共有24件。
校務研究強化辦學效能:本校自行撰寫程式,開發「中華醫點通」APP,更結合校務研究,達到精準敏捷管理。如今年度創建即時水情查詢系統:因應本校位於低窪地區,即時水情查詢系統可協助本校高層主管掌握防汛即時水情,在第一時間發布水情警訊,維護校園師生安全與避免校園內交通工具因淹水損毀。又如教室使用管理系統:協助本校相關單位管理各別教室與統計各教室之使用率。
四、善盡社會責任
社區照護:透過「物的循環」提升社區經濟力,以「人的循環」提升社區人力利用,結合二者形塑「善的循環」,辦理社區營養教育、開發營養調理包,指導長者正確的飲食觀念,與台南衛生局合作共同實踐社會責任維護七甲里營養示範點並結合大廟里,提供用餐據點營養輔導2處,獲得「臺南市政府衛生局111年營養教育遊戲徵稿活動─三蔬二果」第一名、「2022年腎食堂-第一屆全國低磷鉀餐盒食譜大賽」第二名等獎項肯定,並利用雲端大數據偵測長者健康,進而指導長者運動處方,促進社區長者健康,減緩社區醫療負擔。
照護人才:開設志工訓練工作坊,照服員證照輔導、提升護理系學生的專業照護知能進行專業相關的就業前訓練。
環境教育:獲得2022年環境工程年會環保教育主題簡報佳作、發表論文2篇。完成1件可供民眾使用關於三爺溪流域「治水、淨水、親水」的資訊平台。訪談了上、中、下游10個社區,舉行2場里民座談會後產出「淹水潛勢地圖」及「民眾參與水岸潛力情報圖」各1份。與慈濟志工合作為期一星期「環保行動教育車」展演說明,訓練出50位學生導覽志工對近420位學生及里民講演環境教育。與國立成功大學永續環境實驗所、防災研究中心;永康區崑山里、西灣里簽訂MOU。與蒲公英希望基金會執行活動「為水走5公里」募得15,000元給偏鄉提供自來水用。
醫事專業平民化:延續前兩年的社區健康知識提升(仁德中洲社區),於在地高中(南大附中)推廣檢驗醫學衛教,為使檢驗醫學衛教能永續推行,規劃以自創遊戲作為推廣媒介,帶領學生參加社區關懷據點(白雪社區關懷據點)的活動,世代融合青銀共創家庭日,學生自創超大型大富翁遊戲,融入衛教知識,讓長幼藉此活動筋骨,落實要活就要動的概念;協辦台南市立醫院銀髮擂台賽(安平社區)活動,關懷社區長者。並利用暑期辦理在地高中科學營(港明、南二中、南附中等)以實作瞭解醫學檢驗知識,以卡牌遊戲及人體大富翁提升衛教及保健素養。
登革熱防治:舉辦校內、外校與社區宣導說明會31場;舉辦全校健康議題海報競賽成果展1場;國中端升學博覽會與深耕拜訪來傳遞登革防治知行合醫理念與知識總計11場次;到24個單位提倡生物防治法;舉辦疫區環境巡禮1場次;建構台灣與台南市登革熱聚集地理位置以及病例數分布地圖2個。
視力保健:進行產學合作,聯盟各大鏡片公司、連鎖眼鏡公司等,如新加坡商天格科技股份有限公司臺灣分公司、寶島光學科技股份有限公司、得恩堂眼鏡股份有限公司、仁愛眼鏡有限公司,訓練學生視光檢測技能,111年舉辦視光週活動,邀請校內外人士參與檢測,由本系大學部三年級、五專部四年級學生擔任檢者,為受檢者詳細檢查視力異常與眼部異常,並給予測後說明及建議,培養學生臨床操作經驗,活動獲一致好評,預計於112年1月4日舉辦驗光技術競賽,激勵學生視光臨床技能。
國際交流:辦理「International Service Design Workshop-線上工作坊+實作」、「臺日地方貢獻交流講座」、「在地永續英語營」、「國際研討會」、參與「2022年青年地球市民會議」等,集結臺灣、菲律賓、印度、印尼、越南、日本、美國、泰國等國家之青年學子與專家賢達共同參與,例如透過線上工作坊,討論「疫後身心照護」、「流浪犬貓」之議題,提出對應策略供場域參考運用,並親臨場域現場實作,協助國內社區邁向國際化;或邀請日本地方創生專家與計畫團隊進行線上交流,分享臺日地方創生經驗;或將本計畫實踐經驗於國際會議上發聲;國境解封後,並舉辦「日本實地觀摩交流」,至日本大學與師生分享淺山創生經驗。希冀藉由多元管道,突破疫情藩籬,實踐跨國交流。
111年度高等教育深耕計畫-特色亮點
一、落實教學創新及提升教學品質
推動教師組成教學專業社群:經「護理師國考考照率精進社群」輔導,共有303位學生報考出席率100%,錄取人數188人及格率達62%,比全國護理師及格率45.3%高出將近二成;「醫學檢驗專業教學精進社群」在全系師生的全力投入及付出下創造通過率50.17%比全國考照率26.58%高將一倍,111年誕生護理與醫檢師國考雙榜首。
創新教學實踐:幼保系黃義良教師帶領實務專題學生參加由美國AZSCIENCES新創團隊及世界發明智慧財產聯盟總會共同主辦的「2022美國科學暨發明展」,共同開發極具創意的教具「Lucky Belt-Innovative belly support belt for pregnant women」,經過激烈競逐獲得金牌獎殊榮。
全校證照數逐年提升:學生通過專業實作能力檢定,強化實務技術與能力,107至110學年度全校證照數累積已達5450張,在110學年度全校證照數獲取1352張的好成績,今年度雖因疫情影響,但對比109學年度全校證照數1238張仍是有顯著成長。
學生考取英檢證照通過率創新高:持續推動英檢加強班與學習活動或競賽,提升學生英檢考照率,110學年度全校學生取得英檢證照張數共達2,301張。其中有1位學生取得多益金色證書及9位學生取得多益藍色證書。調保系二技應屆畢業生王宥翔同學,在家人的激勵及學校提供英檢獎勵金的鼓舞下,用兩個月的時間密集加強英文能力,並參加學校舉辦免費的英文學習課程、衝刺班及英文學習活動,在經過老師的指導,英文能力大為精進,考到多益895分(滿分990分)取得金色證書。
創新創業師生團隊表現亮眼:由幼保系、製藥系、醫技系、視光系及環安系教師帶領的學生團隊分別獲2022烏克蘭國際發明展金牌獎、第十三屆IIIC國際創新發明競賽金牌獎、2022環保署環境教育綠客松創意徵選-創新優選獎、2022第九屆高雄KIDE國際發明暨設計展金、銀牌獎。
二、發展學校特色
師生研究產出屢獲競賽大獎:於教育部舉辦的2022年全國技專校院學生實務專題製作競賽暨成果展,我們在競爭激烈的家政餐旅食品群,從百件作品中經過篩選,脫穎而出進入決賽,以「寶護凝」脫穎而出,榮獲全國家政餐旅食品群冠軍。
全國專技人員高考表現亮眼:111年度醫技系紀柔希、林銘炫、陳品勳更包辦前十名之榜首、第五名與第七名;111年度驗光師高考中,林冠廷考取為第三名,全國前30名當中,本校囊括三分之一,護理系蘇豈玉與醫技系紀柔希雙榜首更為全國唯一之殊勝佳績。
三、提升高教公共性
獎勵學生報考專業證照,培育學生獲取價值型證照:經濟不利學生考取專業證照,其中考取甲級證照之學生比例自107年16%上升至111年50%,顯示證照輔導班、線上題庫和擬真模擬考訓練等強化證照輔導策略,對於學生考取證照有顯著效益。
建構智慧雲端校園:本校以智慧雲端校園為核心,分為智慧健康、智慧生活(學生)、智慧管理(教師)三大面向。自行撰寫程式,開發校務智慧行動管理平台「中華醫點通」APP,也為全國第一所由私校科大成功技轉國立大學之院校,達到智慧化、行動化、即時化的精準決策管理效果。高教深耕計畫期間(107-111)共增加18項APP功能;完成雲端智慧校園解決方案共9件,透過線上系統將校務研究結果反饋落實至校務治理機制,如今年度創建「本校新冠疫情概要」:以利本校高層掌握校內COVID-19動態疫情,並配合政府防疫措施,提供能夠即時向師生提醒最新學校應變說明之平台,也集中解決校園追蹤疫情最新消息之便利性。
四、善盡社會責任
建構社會企業營運模式:協助南化北寮社區活化閒置空間,輔導在地農產物流業者多角化經營,成立小歇冰舖,該案獲台灣永續能源研究基金會「2022 APSAA亞太永續行動獎」金獎肯定。
創新實踐課程:藉由創新實踐課程,培育社會實踐人才,成效獲輔英科技大學「志工創新場域實踐大學社會責任競賽」第1名、輔英科技大學「2022USR場域實踐課程競賽」,第2名等獎項肯定。
111 Years of Higher Education Sprout Project-Implementation Results
A. Implement Teaching Innovation and Improve Teaching Quality
Achievement of the fruitful results by the compilation of innovative and diverse teaching strategies: Teacher Cheng, Po-Chen compiled a number of picture books that are both educational and entertaining for all ages, such as “Goodbye! Nan'an Little Bear Girl”, “Go Home! Little Orcas An-An”, “Grandma's Turnip Cake”, “Legend of Yanchao Guavas”, etc. and donated books to schools and kindergartens in remote areas to stimulate children’s interest in reading. Among them “Go Home! Little Orcas An-An” and “My Mother Is a Bus Driver” were selected as exhibits for the Guadalajara International Book Fare at the Taiwan Pavilion in 2022.
Promotion of the tutoring course: The teachers’ remedial teaching after the mid-term exams assisted students with insufficient learning preparation or learning difficulties with additional tutoring. In response to the epidemic, Google Meet was used for online remote remedial teaching so that students’ learning did not be interrupted. The passing rate of the semester after receiving remedial teaching is 88% in 2022, and the semester’s grades improved significantly.
Promotion of students’ professional practical ability verification: The “Students’ Professional Practical Ability Verification Implementation Measurement “was formulated and promoted by HWAI school, and the departments revised the “Students’ Professional Practical Ability Verification Implementation Regulations” based on professional considerations and industry needs. The results of the professional practical ability test for students were evaluated via the teaching seminars. The achievement rate was as high as 93% in 2021.
Promotion and strengthening of the Chinese reading and writing ability of students: The freshman of the 2019 academic year took a pre-test in Chinese language proficiency in the second semester of the 2019 academic year, and completed the post-test in the second semester of the 2021 academic year. The improvement rate was 68.24%. On the other hand, we encouraged our students to join the annual English essay competition and the annual English picture word card competition. Similarly, we held the “Stories in Photos” essay contest in the 2021 academic year, and there were 21 outstanding essays selected and compiled into a book entitled “Stories in Photos”. At the same time, the “Painting in the Heart‧Poetry in Painting” poem card competition was held, and 26 excellent artworks were selected and compiled into a beautiful notebook. In addition, we held four “Media Literacy” seminars to cultivate students’ ability to read and write media in 2022.
Strengthening of professional (career) second language skills for students: Each of the three colleges held an international seminar in 2022. The College of Human Life Science held the “International Symposium of Sustainable AI Application on Water and Human Life Sciences”. There were 1 international speaker, 3 domestic speakers, and 70 faculty and students who participated. The College of Medical Technology held the “International Symposium on Precision Medicine”, with 2 international speakers, 6 domestic speakers, and 540 faculties and students. The College of Nursing held the “International Symposium on Trends in the Application of Smart Health Care in 2022”, with 2 international speakers, 1 domestic speaker, and 124 faculty and students.
In addition, the Department of Nursing offered a full English EMI module course. The EMI module course “Leadership and Management in Nursing Clinical Studies” in the 2022 academic year completed the training of three EMI teachers.
Strengthening the collaborative teaching of professional teachers: Through collaborative teaching by professional teachers, a mentor-apprentice system of learning was established. Mentors act as a guiding role, then enhance students' interest in learning and practical operation ability, and finally help with an opportunity to find employment in a professional company in the future. In 2019-2021 academic year, a total of 60 collaborative teaching courses were offered by professional teachers. Through the mentoring system, students’ learning interest and practical operation ability were improved. The student satisfaction score was 4.7. A total of 156 teaching materials were produced.Finally, 1,091 students were interns in professional teachers’ companies.
Promotion of the function-oriented courses: We implemented “External Review of Curriculum” mechanism in two years, which began from the 2021 academic year. The external reviewer not only reviewed the program’s outline and structure, but gave their comments to meet the needs of the latest professional development in course. Through the promotion of “External Review of Curriculum” mechanism, a total of 7 departments completed it in 2021, and 9 departments completed it in 2022.
B. Development of the School Characteristics
Establishment of basic training production lines to improve practical capabilities: Such as the I-CARE Smart Care and Elderly Industry Creation Center, Labor Physiology Laboratory, Safety and Health Situation Experience Hall, Contact Lens Laboratory of the Department of Optometry, Information Literacy and Programming Ability Training Base, etc., in 2022. Teachers and students were provided smart technology to practice internships, promote sustainable community creation, and strengthen the skills to integrate with the local industry.
Conducting international exchange activities: To take place international exchange lectures, research studies, foreign language courses, skill competitions, and cultural exchange activities enhanced students’ international vision. Deepen the curriculum in line with gear international standards and providing foreign students with Chinese language courses helped them smoothly to study and to integrate into the living environment of Taiwan.
Conducting tutoring classes and increasing the rate of professional license examination: We offered at least 15 of B or above on national examination certificate counseling classes every year and promoted students to take the exams. In 2022, the proportion of our four-year technical school's students obtaining professional certificates is 30% (938 certificates/3,037 people). Teachers have also wrote national examination question analysis textbooks and upload them to the cloud question bank platform for students to practice, which has promoted the steady growth of the national examination pass rate of each department over the years.
C. Improvement in the Publicity of Higher Education
Consummate the school fundraising mechanism: From 2018 to 2022, the total amount of funds raised for improving students studying reached 12 million NTD, and more than 80% of economically disadvantaged students (more than 6,000 students) received assistance.
Rewarding economically disadvantaged students and improving students learning outcomes: According to the analysis of school affairs research: 1.The average grades of those receiving tutoring were higher than those who did not receive financial aid, showing that academic tutoring can indeed improve learning effectiveness. 2. The retirement rate of students who received financial aid was compared to those who did not receive financial aid, with a difference of about 5 times. It indicates that the investment in tutoring resources can effectively reduce the retirement rate of students. 3. The rate of economically disadvantaged students receiving subsidies to obtain Class A professional licenses has increased from 16% to 50% in 2018-2022, showing that the establishment of intensive license counseling strategies in departments has achieved good results.
Hiring professional teachers to enhance teaching energy: In 2022, 17 full-time teachers with specialization were hired. The ratio of professional and technical teachers has increased to 7.5%.
Increasing the proportion of full-time teachers and improving the consistency of teachers: The proportion of part-time teachers has gradually decreased to 48% in 2022. The proportion of full-time teachers has grown to 52%. In addition, the proportion of teachers with half a year of industrial experience has grown to 100%.
Implementation of the institutional research and development: By awarding teachers to conduct school affairs research to give feedback and better school affairs. The research focused on the development direction of School Affairs Development Plans, teaching affairs, student affairs and counseling, personnel, enrollment and social services, etc. To assist in the formulation and planning of future school affairs development policies, and a more objective basis to achieve the goal of sustainable growth of the school--from 2018 to 2022, a total of 5 school affairs research results seminars were held and have already awarded 114 teachers to conduct research on school issues. Produced 83 reports on school affairs issues and proposed improvement. From 2019 to 2022, there were 24 proposals adopted as school affairs development issues by the school affairs development conference.
Strengthening school running efficiency via the institutional research: We wrote programs by ourselves, to develop the “HWAI Electronization” APP. Which is combined with school affairs research to achieve precise and agile management. Created Real-Time Water Regime Inquiry System this year. Since the school is located in a low-lying area, the Real-Time Water Regime Inquiry System can assist the management of the school to grasp the real-time water regime for flood control, issue the earliest possible water regime warnings , maintain the safety of teachers and students on campus and avoid vehicles being damaged by flooding. Another example is Classroom Usage Management system, which assists the relevant units of the school to manage classrooms and count the utilization rate of each classroom.
D. Fulfill Social Responsibility
Community care: Through the circulation of things, we enhance community economic power; and through the circulation of people, we enhance the utilization of community human resources. By combining the two, we shaped the good circulation. We conducted community nutrition education and developed nutrition conditioning packages. We also guided the elderly in correct dietary concepts and cooperated with the Tainan Health Bureau to jointly practice social responsibility in maintaining Qijia district’s nutrition demonstration points. We also combined with Damiao district to provide two dining sites for nutrition counseling. We obtained the first place in the Tainan City Government Health Bureau’s 2022 Nutrition Education Game Solicitation Activity-- Three Vegetables, Two Fruits--and the second place in the 2022 Renal Food Court --The First National Low Phosphorus Potassium Meal Box Recipe Contest--among other awards. We used big data in cloud to detect the health of the elderly and guide them in exercise prescription to promote community elderly health and alleviate community medical burden.
Orientation training courses for fostering the nursing career: We set up volunteer training workshops and assisted in care staff license to enhance our nursing students’ professional care knowledge and skills. We conducted professional pre-employment training to prepare them for the workforce.
Elderly care: We established a 30-person team of teachers and students in 2022 to participate in four mobile hospital services, 14 elderly health checks, 10 health promotion events, and 3 home care check services. We aimed to enhance the integration of study and application for our students and increase the effectiveness and depth of our services.
Environmental education: We obtained the presentation award for environmental education at the 2022 Environmental Engineering Annual Conference and published two papers. We completed an information platform on the Sanye river watershed that is available to the public, covering water management, water purification, and water conservation. We interviewed 10 communities in the upper, middle, and lower reaches of the watershed and held 2 town hall meetings to produce a “flood potential map” and a “public participation in waterfront potential information map” for each. We cooperated with Tzu Chi volunteers to conduct a week-long “environmental education bus” performance and training, trained 50 students to be the tour volunteers to give environmental education presentations to nearly 420 students and residents. We signed an MOU with the National Cheng Kung University’s Institute of Sustainable Environmental Studies, the Disaster Prevention Research Center, Kunshan community and Xiwen community in Yongkang District. We also carried out the “Walk 5 kilometers for water” activity with the Dandelion Hope Foundation, raising 15,000 NTD to provide tap water to remote areas.
Popularization of the knowledge of medicine and nursing: Continuing the previous two years’ promotion of community health knowledge (Ren-De Zhongzhou community), we promoted medical examination and health education at the local high school (Tainan University Affiliated High School) to ensure the sustainability of medical examination and health education. We planned to use self-created games as a promotion medium, lead students to participate in activities at the community care site (Bai Xue community care center), the intergenerational family day, and the student-created super-large monopoly game, incorporating health education knowledge. Through these activities, young and old can implement the concept that to live, you need to move. We co-organize the Tainan City Hospital elderly Competition (Anping community) to care for the community’s elderly. We also used the summer to conduct local high school science camps (Gangming high, Tainan second high, Tainan University Affiliated, etc.) to teach about medical examination knowledge and enhance health education and health literacy through card games and human body monopoly.
Prevention and control of dengue fever: To prevent and control dengue fever, we held 31 on- and off-campus and community education meetings, 1 health poster competition exhibition, 11 visits to junior high schools to promote the concept of combining medical care and prevention and control of dengue fever, visited 24 units to promote biological control, held 1 epidemic environment tour, and constructed 2 maps of the geographical location and distribution of dengue fever cases in Taiwan and Tainan City.
Vision healthcare: We conducted industry-academia cooperation, partnering with major lens companies, chain eyewear companies, and other companies such as the Taiwan branch of Singapore-based Tecnoglass Technology Co., Ltd., Bao Island Optical Technology Co., Ltd., De’en Tang Eyewear Co., Ltd., and Ren’ai Glasses Co., Ltd. to train students in vision detection skills. In 2022, we held a Vision Week event, inviting on- and off-campus participants to undergo testing, conducted by third-year undergraduate and fourth-year vocational students from our department. The testers thoroughly checked for vision abnormalities and eye abnormalities, provided explanations and recommendations after the test, and trained students in clinical operation experience. The event was well received and we plan to hold a refraction technology competition in January 2023 to motivate students in clinical vision skills.
International exchanges: We have organized several international events, such as the “International Service Design Workshop-Online Workshop and Practice,” “Taiwan-Japan Local Contributions Exchange Lecture,” “Sustainable English Camp,” and “International Conference.” These events have not only brought together young students and experts from Taiwan, but also the Philippines, India, Indonesia, Vietnam, Japan, the United States, and Thailand to discuss issues such as “Post-Pandemic Mental and Physical Care” and “Stray Dogs and Cats” and to propose strategies for their implementation in local communities. We have also invited Japanese local revitalization experts and project teams to participate in online exchanges and share experiences with us. Our experiences with this project have also been shared at international conferences. After the lifting of border restrictions, we organized a “Japan Field Observation and Exchange” team, where we share our experiences regarding Shallow Mountain Regeneration with students and faculties at Japanese universities. We hope to break through the barriers of the pandemic and promote cross-border exchanges through these diverse channels.

A. Implement Teaching Innovation and Improve Teaching Quality
Promotion of teachers to form a professional teaching community: After the guidance of the “Pass Rate Improvement Community for National Examination in Nursing”, a total of 303 students applied for the exam with a 100% attendance rate, and 188 students passed--a rate of 62%, which is nearly 20% higher than the 45.3% rate in the country. With the full dedication and dedication of all teachers and students in the “Medical Laboratory Professional Teaching Community”, the pass rate is 50.17%--twice as high as the 26.58% in the country. In 2022, two first place were born in the national examination for nursing and medical examiners from HWAI.
Innovation teaching practicing: Huang Yi-liang, a teacher from the Department of Early Childhood Care, led students to participate in the “2022 American Science and Invention Exhibition”,which was co-sponsored by the American AZSCIENCES start-up team and the World Invention Intellectual Property Associations. They jointly developed creative teaching aids “Lucky Belt-Innovative belly support belt for pregnant women”, and won the gold medal award after fierce competition.
The number of professional licenses has increased year by year: Students passed the professional practical ability test, and strengthened practical technology and ability. The number of certificates and licenses of the whole school has reached 5,450 in the 107-2021 academic year. Although affected by the epidemic, there was such a good result that the number of certificates in the whole school was 1,352 in the 2021 academic year. Further, compared with the 1,238 certificates in the 2020 academic year, there is still a significant growth in this year.
The pass rate of the English certificates (CEF A2 and Above) hit a record high: We provided English intensive classes and variety of English activities and competition to improve students English abilities and enhance the passing rate of English certificates. The number of certificates was 2,301 in the 2021 academic year. One student got the golden certificate of TOEIC. Nine students got blue certificates of TOEIC. A student named Wang, You-Xiang (majoring in Department of Acupressure Technology)got excellent performance of a score of 895. He thanks the encouragement of family and incentive award of school, which led him to enter English intensive classes to strengthen his English ability. Besides joining English courses for free, he studied hard for two months to achieve the goal.
The inventions of the faculty-student team are outstanding: The student teams led by teachers from the Department of Early Childhood Care, Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Department of Medical Technology, Department of Optometry, and Department of Environmental Safety won the gold medal award at the 2022 International Invention Exhibition in Ukraine, the gold medal award at the 13th IIIC International Innovation and Invention Competition, the innovation award at the 2022 Environmental Protection Agency’s Environmental Education Innovation Contest, and the gold and silver medal awards at the 2022 9th KIDE International Invention and Design Exhibition in Kaohsiung.
B. Development of the School Characteristics
The research outputs of teachers and students have repeatedly won the competition awards: In the 2022 National Technical College Student Practical Thematic Production Competition and Achievement Exhibition held by the Ministry of Education, we screened from hundreds of works in the highly competitive group of housekeeping, hospitality and food, and entered the finals with “Bao Hu Ning”, which stood out and won the championship.
Excellent performance in the national college entrance examination: In 2022, Ji, Rou-Xi, Lin, Ming-xuan, and Chen, Pin-xun from the Department of Medical Technology ranked first, fifth, and seventh in the top ten of the national college entrance examination. In the 2022 optometrist college entrance examination, Lin, Guan-ting took the third place. In addition,one-third of the top 30 in the country were from our school. Su, Qi-yu from the Department of Nursing and Ji, Rou-xi from the Department of Medical Technology are the best in the country.
C. Improvement in the Publicity of Higher Education
Encouragement of students to apply for and obtain valuable professional licenses The proportion of economically disadvantaged students obtaining Class A professional licenses has increased from 16% to 50% in 2018-2022. This shows that strengthened certificate counseling strategies such as certificate counseling classes, online question banks, and simulated test training, etc., has significant benefits for students to get the licenses.
Building the smart cloud campus: We takes the smart cloud campus as the core, and it is divided into three aspects: smart Health, smart Life (student side), and smart management (teacher side). We wrote programs by ourselves, became the first college in the country to successfully transfer technology from a private university to a national university. In addition, we developed the “HWAI Electronization” APP--which is a smart mobile management platform--to achieve intelligent, mobile, and real-time precise decision-making management effects. During the Higher Education Sprout Project (2018-2022), the “HWAI Electronization” has been gradually improved, and 18 new functions have been added. At the same time, we completed a total of 9 cloud smart campus solutions through the online system to implement the feedback of school affairs research results into the school affairs governance mechanism. For example, this year we created Summary of the School’s COVID-19 Situation to help the school’s management to grasp the dynamic situation of COVID-19 in the school; cooperate with the government’s epidemic prevention measures; and, provide a platform that can immediately remind teachers and students of the latest school response instructions. It obviously helped us more conveniently get the latest news of the epidemic in HWAI.
D. Fulfill Social Responsibility
Establishing the social enterprise operation model: We received the gold prize in the 2022 APSAA Asia Pacific Sustainable Action Awards from the Taiwan Sustainability Energy Research Foundation for our efforts to revitalize the Nanhua-Beiliao community’s free space by establishing a small ice cream shop.
Innovation practical courses: We placed first in the Volunteer Innovation Field Practice University Social Responsibility Competition at Fooyin University, and second in the 2022 USR Field Practice Course Competition at the same university.
